13/04/08 London Marathon

Ten Kenilworth Runners took part in the 2008 Flora London Marathon, an event which marked the 100th anniversary of the marathon being first run to its now traditional 26.2 mile distance. The race began in near perfect conditions for marathon running but a series of heavy showers made running tough going in the latter stages. Fortunately the race's legendary crowd support, including many members of Kenilworth Runners, helped keep runners' spirits high throughout the demanding test of mind and body.

First Kenilworth Runner home was Stuart Hopkins, who maintained his outstanding run of form to run a superb seven minute personal best, clocking a time of 2:48:19, which placed Stuart in an outstanding 409th position overall.

20/04/08 Honiley Super Hoof - Winter League

On a miserable and wet Sunday morning 24 members of Kenilworth Runners gathered at the Honiley Boot Corus Hotel to take part in the longest and last event of the Winter League, 6.75 miles, in this eight race series.

Starting and finishing in the Lane to Honiley, the runners headed out towards Beausale but at the first junction turned right towards Clattyland Wood and a left turn into the Lane that took them past Haseley Knob to eventually pass through Haseley Green and after a nice downhill section turn left again at ’The Glebe’ and back through Waste Green and Beausale to the turn to Honiley and so to the finish.

With two of the contenders for the coveted overall winner of the league acting as marshals it was down to those racing to put in a good performance, the final result was that Paul Buchan retained his overall lead and took the title with 296 points

Group Positions are as follows:-

Group "A"   Group "B"   Group "C"
Sally Hicks 283 Richard Green 279 Roland Smythe 174
Joan Mason 282 Andrew Preshous 263 Andrew Holbrook 146
