36 members of Kenilworth Runners and several guests travelled to Chesterton where by the lovely Church they met to take part in the 5th race in the 8 race series.
The 6 mile course is set in some of Warwickshire’s most picturesque countryside. Starting and finishing on the Lane that passes by the Church it heads out through Chesterton Green to turn right up the steep hill and past the Windmill to reach the main road from Warwick to Bishops Itchington which it follows until turning left to follow the hilly road to Harbury.
After passing the Old New Inn Public house, where the runners had an excellent buffet after the race, a right turn took them to the five ways junction where a right turn returned them to the Windmill and down the hill and back to the finish near the Church.
Again the overall lead has changed, showing the intense competition, and it is Kenilworth Runners Treasurer, Stan Alexander on 252 points, who has taken top spot with a superb run on a very tough course.

Buxton Carnival - 5 Mile Road Race
One thing you can say with reasonable certainty is that any race in or about the lovely Spa Town of Buxton in Derbyshire will be hilly and tough. Knowing this Kenilworth Runners, Colin Bricher, took part in this annual road race.
The weather did not help either as the conditions on the Saturday evening were searing hot which together with the hills on this scenic route lead to a very hard race and slow times.
Nonetheless despite the conditions and the hills Colin finished in the creditable time of 48 minutes and 11 seconds in 150th position

The Pitchcroft - 5 Mile Off Road Race
Three members of Kenilworth Runners travelled to Worcester Race Course to take part in this 10 kilometre race.
Following the contours of the outside of the race course the race followed an idyllic tree lined route around the Pitchcroft race course on the banks of the river Severn.
Martin Dorrill lead the trio with a magnificent run to finish in 3rd position in 35 minutes exactly. He was followed by Mick Williams (16th, 38.00) and just 2 seconds later Brennan Lively (17th, 38.02).

Stratford AC v Kenilworth - Annual Race
On a hot
and humid Wednesday evening over 50 members
of Stratford AC and Kenilworth Runners met at
Adventure Sports Ltd’s excellent facilities,
Wedgnock Lane, Warwick, to take part in the
annual challenge race.
This race was instituted in 1986 and almost
every year has brought members of the clubs
together at different venues to take part in
friendly but highly competitive races over various
types of terrain.
The 6 mile race started on the field adjacent
to the Rifle Range and the runners immediately
plunged into a narrow cutting through the surrounding
earth embankment to come out onto the Centenary
Way a long distance Warwickshire route.
Following the perimeter of the Golf Course they
met the track leading past Goodrest Farm and
headed to the Turkey Farm passing Deer Park
Wood.
A right turn on to Beausale Lane took them to
the Lane to Inchford Brook Farm and so to a
right turn onto the track past Bulloak Farm
where a steep climb challenged their stamina.
The water station gave some comfort from the
oppressive heat and after passing Prospect Farm
they turned left to finish where they started.
After the race members enjoyed a splendid barbeque
and a friendly evenings gathering all of which
was superbly organised by Stratford AC and Adventure
Sports Ltd.
Whilst the outright winners on the evening were
good sportsmanship and friendly competition
for the records the results were as follows:-
MEN RACE
1 Martin Dorrill 37.40
2 Stewart Hopkins 38.36
3 Robert Minton 38.57
LADIES RACE
1 Sue Taylor 46.01
2 Lesley Kirk 47.26
3 Debbie Copper 48.17
OVERALL POSITION
1 Kenilworth Runners 516 points
2 Stratford AC 492 points

Hampton Lucy Lurker - Summer League
With only two races and the competition entering it’s final phase it was time to pull out all the stops to try to get into the final results.
So on a hot, but not oppressive evening, 28 members of Kenilworth Runners and their guests travelled to Charlcote Park to take part in the 6th race of the series.
The picturesque 5 mile course started in Charlcote Village on the road alongside the Park.
Almost immediately after the start the runners turned left into Charlcote Road which they followed until they reached Hampton Lucy where they turned left onto the Stratford Road which is flat for about a mile but soon climbs to met Hampton Bank Lane where the runners were faced with a long and steep climb up to junction with Snitterfield Street where a welcome descent was followed by two short climbs until Hampton Lucy was reached and after a left turn into Charlcote Road they reached the finish.
Stan Alexander maintained the overall lead on 267 points with a strong run on a tough course. However, and much to his surprise, over 70, Mick Morris is now Stan’s closest rival for the title with 252 points, having played his joker and beat his handicap time to collect the full 100 points on offer that evening.
