01/04/06 The Aquathon Multi Discipline Event

Five members of Kenilworth Runners tackled this event which includes a 400 metre swim in Warwick Pool and immediately followed by a 2 mile road run in the Park.
James Hartwright lead the Kenilworth Runners in and was 11th male to finish in 20 minutes 22 seconds, He was followed by William Seeley 19th male veteran in 23.13, Stan Alexander 26th male veteran 26.39, Bob Griffiths 28th male veteran 28.58 and John Jones 30th male veteran 31.53.

02/04/06 Bournemouth 10 Km - Road Race

For Kenilworth Runner, Robert Thompson, a ‘nice day out by the sea’ meant a hard and competitive ten kilometre road race with no chance of a rest on the beach.
He joined over 600 other athletes on the start by sea front on a bright but cold and windy day. The course was well chosen and passed along the sea front and to the Pier at Boscombe taking in the Pier Gardens to return to the finish on the sea front. The strong wind hampered the runners but did not prevent Robert from setting a cracking pace to finish in the exalted position of 10th overall in the excellent time of 40 minutes and 56 seconds.

02/04/06 The Oakley - 20 Mile Road Race

Closer to home Kenilworth Runner, Nick Bradbury, took part in Bedford Harriers tough 20 mile race which starts and finishes in the picturesque village of Oakley in Bedfordshire. The course is so designed that competitors can tackle a 12 mile or 20 mile race by having two loops both of which included some tough hills.
Nick decided on the longer 20 mile course and was well pleased to finish in 132 position out of 654 finishers which in itself was an excellent position against some very tough competitors but Nick was even more delighted to get that much sort after prize in running, ‘A Personal Best or PB’ by finishing in 2 hours 32 minutes and 52 seconds

02/04/06 The Chedworth Roman Trail - 10 kilometre Race

There are few more attractive places to run than in Chedworth, Gloucestershire, where beautiful scenery and ancient history rub shoulders.
Starting near the Chedworth Roman Villa this 10 kilometre course was either up or down as it traverses the superb woodland.
Five members of Kenilworth Runners took part in the race which was hampered by a strong wind and cold conditions. Mike Johnson who has just returned from injury showed that he has lost non of his pace and finished in the remarkable time of 64 minutes and 3 seconds to finish 3rd overall and 1st male veteran 40. Mick Williams followed him in 17th position in 70.30 with fellow club members Stan Alexander (52nd, 77.11), Stephen Jackson (54th, 77.20) and Jane McNally (316th, 112.40).

09/04/06 The Regency Run - 10 Kilometre Road Race

On a brilliant clear but chilly Sunday morning 25 members of Kenilworth Runners joined an entry of over 1200 runners in the second running of the Regency Run in Leamington Spa. The race started in New bold Terrace Drive and then joined the bridleway onto the golf course with a steep climb to the top, a good start for inexperienced runners.
After circling the golf course, runners exited Fern hill Drive back into New bold Terrace Drive, the route then following a very pleasant run through Jepherson Gardens and Dormer Place to Victoria Park and then heading back through Pump Room Gardens, Jepherson Gardens across the Bridge to Mill Gardens and to the finish.
A very pleasant and enjoyable course to run.
Pat Noonan lead the Runners in to finish the 10 kilometre race in the superb time of 34 minutes and 22 seconds to finish in 5th position overall.

16/04/06 Massey Ferguson - Easter 5

On a very pleasant Easter Sunday morning eight members of Kenilworth Runners joined about 60 other athletes at Warwick University Sports Hall to take part in Massey Fergusan’s new running event.
The two lap course chosen for this race was partly on road and then on the grass tracks that follow the western boundary of the University.
Starting by the Sports Hall the competitors were faced with a climb up the service road which follows the campus buildings until just before Gibbet Hill Road when a sharp left turn took them onto the grassy footpath that follows the University boundary and then through Whitefield Coppice to turn left again and past the Sports Hall and so to repeat this for the second leg with the race finishing on the playing field near the Sports Hall.
Conditions were excellent for this race with temperatures ideal for running and Richard Steel took full advantage of the spring weather to lead Kenilworth Runners in with a superb performance to finish in 32 minutes and 55 seconds. Roland Smythe also had a great run and followed him to finish in 34 minutes 21 seconds.
