On a bright and cold Sunday morning 27 members of Kenilworth Runners gathered by Roughknowles Wood at the top of Cryfield Grange Road to take
part in the third race of the Winter series.
This race is arguably the hardest so far with two considerable climbs and plenty of undulations en-route of the 5 mile course. Starting by Roughknowles Wood the runners speed
down the hill until Cryfield Grange Farm was reached when a sharp climb took them to the A429, Kenilworth Coventry Road. A left turn and then a modest climb to the traffic lights
at Gibbet Hill, the scene of executions in the 19th century, where they turned left into Gibbet Hill Road and past the university to turn left into Westwood Heath Road which presents the,
now tiring runner, with a steady climb until another left turn into Bockendon Road and then Crackley Lane. The last half mile took the runners
up the steep hill by Roughknowles Wood to turn left to the finish.
Kenilworth Runners newcomer, Steve Jackson, showed what an asset he will be to the club by claiming full 50 points for the handicap but it was Richard Greenhill and Glen
Iceton who played their jokers to great effect and gained 96 and 94 points respectively each. The overall lead is now shared by Sue Divine
and Nick Bradbury, despite his unfortunate injury on route. Group positions have changed again with Mick Morris coming into the frame in group A.
Group positions are as follows:-

A Tim Payne 139
A Mick Morris 132
A Laurence Copeland 128
