04/04/04 - Chelmsley Woods 5 mile Road Race

This race was part of the Grand Prix series. A strong wind hampered the runners on all of the three laps around Babbs Mill Park. Pauline was the only Kenilworth runner at the race and she produced a fast time of 42 min 30 secs to get 1st over 55 lady.Pauline Dable 42mins 30 secs

 

11/04/04 - Massey Fergusson 5 Mile Road Race

Ideal conditions, warm and a gentle breeze, gave a high turnout of Kenilworth runners and some excellent results were achieved. The fastest time of the day was 24 mins 34 secs by Matt Shaw from Tipton Harriers to claim his first position. Ivan was the fastest Kenilworth man in 30.24, with Selina producing the fastest Kenilworth ladies time in 36.47. Pauline knocked over a minute off her 5 mile time from the previous weekend!. This was the first race of Warwickshire Road Race Series 2004. The next race in this series is on Sunday 13th June, the Northbrook Brose 10k.

18/04/04 - London Flora Marathon

Twenty members of Kenilworth Runners took part in the London Marathon. Isabella Partridge will be pleased with her time of 2.59.37 as she was aiming for a sub-three hours, and Lou Frondella is consitent getting within seconds of last years time! All the other members had good runs with Jane McNally and Kristy Dable both clocking up personal bests on the day. Kristy is having a year of personal bests - she managed to knock 20 minutes off her previous time while Jane knocked 10 minutes off hers!

25/04/04 - The Stratford Shakespeare Full and Half Marathons

19 members of Kenilworth Runners took part in these events, five in the full marathon and fourteen in the half. The competitors started the race under clear blue skies with the temperature exceeding the 20 degree mark. In these hot temperatures Sealina and Ian Caldicot did very well, finishing the full marathon in 3 hours 37 minutes and 3 hours 40 minutes respectively, with Selina just ahead of Ian in a truly excellent performance. Kenilworth Runners Stewart Fenton, Pauline Dable and Denise Cheetham all completed the full course. Denise could not have chosen a more difficult day to run her first marathon on a course that is certainly not easy and did very well.

In the half the men's team also performed brilliantly with Sam Kincaid, Martin Dorrill, Pat Noonan and Roger Homes leading the runners in to claim the half marathon team prize. All the runners did really well to get these times in such unusually hot April temperatures!
