16/11/03 Hartshill Heartbreaker 10 mile cross country.

The Hartshill course is based upon the Hartshill Country Park. Starting in the pleasant grounds of Hartshill School the route follows footpaths to Hartshill Woods where it weaves pleasantly through the woodland until coming out and heading for the canal over which it passes twice and so returns via a long muddy climb up a hill back into the woods and so back to Hartshill school. This is an ideal course for cross country.

Mike Johnson lead the contingent of Kenilworth Runners with a magnificent run to finish with a time 60 minutes and 58 seconds which gave him 2nd place overall and the prize with it. Mick Williams also had an excellent run finishing in 63 minutes and 47 seconds to take the 1st over 40 men's trophy and 10th place overall.

The ladies also had good runs with Celia Mills completing a superb run in 79 minutes and 49 seconds to finish 8th lady.

16/11/03 Winter League Race 1 - Brookes Babbling.

On a bright Sunday morning 21 members took part in the first of the eight races that make up Kenilworth Runners Winter Road Race handicap League. The race started and finished in the lane outside the Red Lion Inn.

The course of this 6 mile race took the runners first to Offchurch where they turned sharp left to ascend the steep climb up to the road junction and shortly after cross the Fosse Way. From here they followed along a undulating road until after passing under the disused railway bridge to turn sharp left again and after climbing the steady hill to the Fosse Way and then down to the finish at Hunningham.

Karen Carter proved to be the star runner on the day as she beat her handicap and claimed the full 50 points. The group positions are as follows:-

GROUP A Tim Payne 49; Pauline Dable 46

GROUP B Stef Shillington 48; Martin Carter 47

GROUP C John McNally 45; Ivan Holdsworth 44

 

23/11/03 Benidorm (Spain) Half Marathon.

Once again the Dable's contuinue their trips around the world. This time it was Spain and the Benidorm Half. With Tom still recovering from his knee injury, it was left to Pauline to fly the flag. In warm and windy conditions, .Pauline completed the course in 1hr 55 mins.

 

30/11/03 Winter League Race 2 - Stoneleigh Shuffle.

On a brilliant sunny Sunday morning 26 members of Kenilworth Runners took part in the second race of the eight race Winter series. This time the venue was the Wardens Cricket Club and the race which is known to the members as 'The Stoneleigh Shuffle' was held on a new 5 miles course.
The race started just by the Conference Centre in Glasshouse Lane and the route took the runners up the incline to turn right into Crew Lane and so down the hill under the Bypass and to turn right again and so along the B 4115 until the footpath up Rocky Lane was reached. Coming out of Thickthorne Woods onto Glasshouse Lane a left turn took the runners to Birches Lane and into, and all the way along, Farmer Ward Road to turn right into Whitemoor Road and so along Leyes lane to the footpath following Dencer Drive to the finish.
Zoe Greenhalf was the star runner on the day as she took the full 50 points on offer with a magnificent run that gave her the best handicap. Tim Payne again showed his resolve to be the overall winner of the series for the third time with a good steady run which puts him in joint overall lead with Stef Shillington who is also in good form and will push Tim all the way to the end race.

The Group positions are as follows:-

Group B: Keith Blake 89; Martin Carter 84
