Sneyd Striders Christmas Pudding Run Print E-mail

After a year's absence, the Sneyd Striders Christmas Pudding Run returned on Sunday 12 December for its twenty fifth running. The ten mile race featured a new two lap course which gently undulated for most of each lap on semi-rural roads in and around Bloxwich. Early morning winter sunshine failed to raise the start line temperatures above zero -  the first two miles of each lap were treacherously slippery with underfoot conditions more suited for ice skates than racing flats.

Despite the less than ideal conditions, Kenilworth Runners' Matthew Kingston-Lee ended the year as he began with a new personal best, finally beating the magic one hour barrier, clocking 59:46 and claiming seventeenth position. Neil Smith followed in 166th position with 1:17:44; Joan Mason ran excellently to clock 1:34:49 with Liz Hegan finishing hot on her heels in 1:35:31.

Perhaps the highlight of the race was the generous goody bag handed out at the finish, which included an individual Christmas pudding and a souvenir coaster!
