Three members braved the arctic conditions to take part in the Octavia night race. The event, organised by Octavian Droobers, saw competitors navigate to 17 checkpoints through the night clocking up approximatly 20miles. Temperatures were around  -8 celcius at the start and quickly dropped even lower as competitors headed out through the local villages of Warmington, Avon Dassett, Burton Dassett, Fenny Compton, Farnborough, and Mollington before heading back towards the start.
Working in a pair Rich Simkiss and  Pete Matthews quickly when into the lead, but after a couple of minor navigation errors they passed around 6 miles in. The duo finished 2nd, 3 minutes behind the winners in a time of 3hr44
Experianced navigator Barry Elkington completed the course in 6th place in a time of 4hr20. He later commented that freezing ground made the going easier than past years.
