On a cold and misty Saturday morning, six club runners headed to the Long Marston airfield for the Stratford Raceways 10K. Billed as 'possibly the flattest 10K you've ever run', the course is very open to the elements and seems to succumb to windy conditions even on the calmest day. Whilst the tight 180 degree turns hampered the runners, the final 800m was slightly downhill and the helpful tailwind resulted in a fast finish down the drag racing strip. The six Kenilworth Runners who took part all had strong runs with three finishing in the top 20. Phil Gould ran a superb 34:05 to finish second; Peter Bryan came home twelfth and James Griffiths followed in seventeenth position. Our next three athletes all clocked new personal bests: Jon Mettyear in 40:05; Richard Whiting (40:19); and Martin Belcher (42:46). Martin also won his age category as first M60 athlete.
