Rugby 10, Barby Print E-mail

After a brief appearance as a 15km race, the more traditional Rugby 10 mile race returned in 2010 - marking the final race of the Warwickshire Road Race League. Fresh from running the cross country a day earlier, Tom & Pauline Dable ran this race as preparation for the Benidorm half marathon in late November.

Renowned as a tough course - theestarted from the village of Barby and after passing through Kilsby turned towards the climb up to the main Hillmorton Road, in Rugby. After half a mile on the main road a sharp left hand turn sent runners on an undulating couple of miles towards the infamous Cart Hill at six and a quarter miles and from here a gradual climb up through the village of Barby to the seven mile point. From here runners completed a three mile loop back to Kilsby before finishing back in Barby village.

Tom Dable completed the race in a fine 1:19:08; Pauline Dable followed in 1:35:16.
