Heavy early morning rain gave way by 10.00am for this picturesque race from Barton Farm Country Park started with an exploding rocket rather than the normal starting gun.. The muddy conditions made the going tough as the course wound through fields on the banks of the River Avon and then transferred to the towpath on the Kennett & Avon canal. Leaving the canal at the Avoncliff Aquaduct runners found themselves climbing a series of very steep trails through leafy woodland.to Freshford , Dunkirk Mill and the half way point with a welcome water station.on th A36.

From here they descended through Friary Wood to Iford manor and a two foot deep river crossing followed by a series of very muddy fields back to the canal towpath and the finish area.
