Mortimer Forest - Hill race Print E-mail

The race from Moor Hill school climbed from the playing fields through woods and then descended into Mary Knoll valley. A severe climb out of the valley the route wound its way to the pumping staion for the water from the Elan valley, wales, where runners encountered three very steep inclines.

The return route to the school included some spectacular views of Richards castle and the the Welsh mountains and climbed over Bringewood Rise, HighVinnals and Jack Common..A total climb of 1600 ft. and extreme muddy and rutted conditions led to slow times throughout the field.

3 members made the journey to the Elan Valley a spectacular place to run for this 10 mile race, Celia Mills lead the runners home 1hr 43 mins followed by Tom Dable 1hr 48 and Pauline Dable 2hr 30.
