Birmingham - Half Marathon Print E-mail

The first ever EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon was staged in Birmingham city, the event, which was the first major road race to be staged in the city for more than 20 years, received nearly 9,000 entries and an estimated 50,000 spectators lined the route to cheer on the runners, many of whom were running for charity.

The route The Half Marathon will criss-cross the city, beginning at Perry Barr's Alexander stadium and finishing 13.1 miles later in Centenary Square. In between, the runners will wind their way through Aston, Lozells, the city centre, Edgbaston and Bearwood - before running (or perhaps staggering!) down Broad Street to the finish.

Five of our members enjoyed the experience running in ideal conditions on a not to demanding course testing the route for the World Half Marathon Championships next year
