On the penultimate day of the old year 7 Kenilworth Runners traveled to the village of Huncote with its excellent Sports Centre in Leicestershire to join nearly 250 more runners for one of the toughest races in the running callender. The race starts along side the sports centre and enters a small coppice before the tough challenge of 3 miles of ploughed fields, just to add to the runners challenge a very steep hill meets them soon which takes them to the top of Croft Hill, a decent from the top of the hill gives a bit relaxation for the runners, but there is no time to relax yet as they travel back across some of the fields covered in the first half to stream of water to negotiate and a sting in the tail of a very steep sandy wet muddy bank and so on to finish at the Sports Centre where a cup of hot soup and a wad of bread met every runner which is very much appreciated. Stewart Hopkins lead the team home in an excellent time of 40.52 to take 5th place overall he was followed by Mick Williams 44.04 in 18th place and Richard Steel 30th 45.51. Our only Lady runner Pauline Dable had a splended run 71.32 beeting here previous years time by nearly 3 minutes.
