Hampton Lucy Lurker - Winter League Print E-mail

With a large number of members opting for warmer racing in Benidorm just 16 members took part in the 3rd of an 8 race series the 5 mile race known as ' The Hampton Lucy Lurker', so named because it passes through the picturesque village of Hampton Lucy on the way out with the climb up Hatton Bank lurking in the background. Starting outside Charlecote park, with the deer looking on in amazement, the race turns left into Charlecote Road to pass through the village and head out along the very pleasant Stratford Road. After 2 miles there is a sharp right turn into Hatton Bank Lane which presents the runners with a long steep hill. Another sharp right turn takes them into Snitterfield Street and back through Hampton Lucy to finish at the end of Charlecote Road.

Good performances were recorded all-round with Sally Hicks running well decided to play her Joker which doubles the points scored, coming in 3rd in the handicap position gave her a total 96 points moving to the overall lead with 189 points the next nearest and leading the "A" group Caroline Pack with 136 points.
