Italy - Marathon Print E-mail

Going Continental club members Andrew Holbrook and Sean Mitchell opted for warmer races in Italy, both taking on the Marathon which takes place round the town of Modena, starting at the Ferrari car factory and finishing in the beautiful town of Capri. Capri is famous amongst other thing for being the home town of Dorando Pierti, who was the first man over the line in the 1908 Olympic Marathon in London - the first race to be run over 26.2 miles

Under good conditions both runners recorded personal bests in a field of over 1200 runners, Andrew 156th 3:07:21 which should give him confidence to break that magical 3 hour barrier at his next marathon, Sean not so far behind 208th 3:14:06. Well done to them both.
