| Kenilworth Half Marathon - Club Event |

The day was ideal for running, cold but dry and with no discernable wind to hinder the competitors. The course chosen was that used in the previous events offering the runners many different challenges with a few hills and all in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside with fleeting views of the famous Castle at several points as a bonus. Starting in Fishponds Road it heads out along the nearby roads to eventually meet Rouncil Lane and a nice downhill. The course then follows Rouncil Lane until it turns right near Waste Green and head out towards Hatton Green where another right turn leads through Haseley Green to Haseley Knob and right to Beausale where after a short while it returns to Rouncil Lane and back to the Leisure Centre and the finish. There may be bigger half marathons but few can boast such a beautiful course passing through truly English countryside. Chris Penn University of Birmingham won the race 1:15:23 leading the field from start to finish, Kenilworth runner Graham Stephens claimed second place 1:16:14 and Michael Oshea Northbrook third 1:17:05. Star of the day was Beth Eburne Hinckley Running Club who broke the ladies course record 1:17:59 to claim first female with Teresa Woolley Centurian second and Myshola Kirkham Coventry Godiva Harriers third 1:26:29 |
