Andrew Siggers continued his strong showing in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series by finishing second in the Weedon 10k. After the seventh race of the series, Andrew leads the Best 5 Races score with twelve points, but will come under intense pressure from the Weedon 10k winner, Leamington C&AC’s Tom Foulerton, should he score well at the final race of the series in Milton Keynes on July 3.

The Weedon 10k is well known for being one of the hardest ten kilometre races in the region, with a climb to start the race and a severe hill of nearly one kilometer at 4k. The race undulates until a long 2km drop to the finish which punishes already aching quads. It was thankfully a fine summer evening with light cloud cover and temperatures around 22°C. Humidity was high however and the muggy conditions made going tough.

Following Andrew, who claimed his second position with a time of  35:29, Matthew Kingston-Lee came home in sixteenth position in 37:45, lamenting the race being on a Tuesday rather than the Wednesday he thought it fell on  - the long run he’d endured the day before still very much in the legs.

Tom Dable followed in 178th (51:50) and Pauline Dable finished third F60 with a time of 57:20.
