A cracking turnout of 47 runners, 4 marshalls, and a handful of spectators for the clubs first Thursday evening race of the year, covering the 6 mile course from Glasshouse lane, through Stoneleigh village and back through the abbey before finishing on Rocky Lane.

Clive Pearce made the brave decision to play his Joker, and opted to run with the faster C group (rather than his usual B group) which proved a wise move as he managed to be the 2nd top scorer for the evening with a 2% improvement, doubling his 49 points to 98, despite carrying out the exhausting role of Team Captain for the Men's B Team at the Hilly100 on Sunday, and finishing the club speed session on Tuesday. Despite his best efforts, he could not out-do the fantastic performance put in by Vicky Putt who improved on her predicted time by a huge 4.74% (two and a half minutes) to take top honours for the evening. Third place went to Andrew Preshous who made an impressive return to the the club races, improving by 1.13%.

Further congratulations must go to Mike Johnson for not only breaking the Vets course record, but also achieving an overall course record by beating Phil Gould's record time from 2009. Mike bagged an extra 5 bonus points for his efforts.

My extended thanks goto Phil Gould and Ros & Pete Matthews for helping with Marshalling and Timekeeping duties, as well as Mick Williams for taking down the course afterwards.

Next race is integrated as part of the Two Castles Run, where the club will hopefully put in a strong performance since the race also forms the 10km County Championships and part of the Warwickshire Road Race League.
