2010 Race Report

Kenilworth Runners were once again blessed with ideal running weather for the 10th running of the Kenilworth Half Marathon.

Having been ranked within Runners World top 50 races of 2009, the event reached its 700 runner limit with a week to go, and saw a large number of these take to the start line.

Halesowen’s Mark Hadley and Kenilworth’s Richard Simkiss managed to pull away from past winner Garry Payne around the 8-9mi point. Sadly the Kenilworth runner was unable to sustain the pace set by Mark as he went on to take the victory in a time of 01:13:38. Richard ran a PB time to take second place and also the county title in a time of 01:14:08 with Garry Payne completing the top three in a time of 01:15:47.

Sue Harrison fresh from her 50km British record ran a strong race to set a new women’s course record, winning in a time of 01:17:37. Coventry Godiva’s runner and last year’s winner, Myshola Kirkham, took second in a time of 01:23:23. Nuneaton’s Eleanor Greenfield completes the top three finishing the 13.1mile route in a time of 01:24:05.
