This was the eighth running of this annual race from Castle Farm Leisure Centre was run in the worst conditions in the history of the event. The torrential rain caused parts of the course to be flooded as it wound it's way around the lanes to Haseley and Beausale and back to Kenilworth. The runners however did gain some respite when protected by hedges from the prevailing wind.
On a morning when only committed runners venture out it was admirable to see 480 finish in the difficult conditions cheered on by enthusiastic marshalls.
Winner of the race was Matt Lole (Coventry Godiva Harriers) 1hr 10 mins 05 secs, followed in second place by Barry Reynolds (unattached) 1.13.47 and Chris Penn the previous year's winner (Birmingham University) 1.15.06.
The ladies race was won by Myshola Kirkham (Coventry Godiva Harriers) 1.25.40, 2nd Sally Baker (Rugby & Northampton) 1.26.34 and 3rd Louise Gibson( Leics. Constabulary) 1.28.09.
Only two Kenilworth Runners members were able to run as to stage the race successfully and safely the club require a minimum of 60 persons to marshall the course and help on the day. Roger Homes 1:25:56 and Tom Dable 1:45:50
Kenilworth Runners thank Kenilworth Cricket Club for their support in helping to marshal the race for which they were our main charity and will receive a sizable donation from the profits.
