Welcome to the first update of 2012, Olympic year.  I am sure you are feeling motivated & full of good intentions for the year ahead.  If you would like to share your running resolutions with other members of the club, there is a healthy thread on the club's Facebook page, where you can post club related stuff.  To access the club page you need to sign up to Facebook, find the club page & request access.  Website admin will do the rest & you'll be in.

There is no doubt the club is going from strength to strength and our numbers are growing.  This is especially noticeable on Tuesday nights during the winter, where we are setting off along Glasshouse Lane as a large pack.  There is concern that these large numbers are potentially dangerous.  As a result of these concerns, please find attached some guidelines on Running Safely which contain a lot of common sense and hopefully some food for thought.  As an initial thought, some groups should alter their direction around the circuit so that we thin out before reaching Thickthorn Roundabout and the Jet Garage.   Well done to all for the universal adoption of  hi-viz / reflective clothing during the dark nights.  This hasn't always been the case at the club.

Over 70 of you completed the member survey in November and as a result of your feedback, Thirsty Third Thursday socials are making a comeback on the 19 January when some food will also be available at the Wardens after training.  Please stay behind for a drink & chat if you can, once a month.

Our 2012 Club league starts soon & dates for the early fixtures, with internal races starting at 9.30am, are:

Sunday 4 March - first club league race

Sunday 17 March - race two

Sunday 6 May - race three

Also note : Sunday 10 June - Two Castles, will also be part of our League again

Our club website contains lots of information about what is going on in the club at www.kenilworthrunners.co.uk.  If you would like reports of a race you have run to appear on the website and in the press, please send some details of the race under the Report a Race section of the site, giving some information about conditions, number of runners, times & positions of Kenilworth Runners and whether times were PB's.  Our Press team spend a lot of time collating reports on Sunday evenings in time to meet newspaper editorial cut-off times of Monday afternoon, so any help you can give is appreciated.

As a new venture this year, Joan Mason & Arthur Smith are leading a new Run England Daytime Running Group in Kenilworth, meeting each Wednesday morning at 9.30am outside The Almanack.  If you can help with this group any Wednesday, please let Joan know on 07957 872473 or by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Each session costs £2 but club members can run free of charge.

Finally, congratulations to both Ladies' & Men's Vet teams who won Silver Medals in the recent Warwickshire Cross Country Championships and to Imogen Peace, Phil McCorquodale,Paddy Roddy & Connor Carson who have earned call-ups to run for Warwickshire in the Inter-Counties Cross Country in March.
