With both races being full well before the event closing date runners were so keen to enter a reserve list, this was put in place to take places that would become available through injury or sickness, we are please to say all those on the list were able to run.
They were rewarded for their determination by a great course around Draycote Reservoir and a magnificent day of sun and calm conditions - ideal for such tough events.
After their efforts the runners were greeted with a well earned goodie bag and a copious amount of hot drinks chocolate snacks and delicious bread pudding, (well worth the effort for the bread pudding was one of the comments heard.)
Roger Wilkes race organiser greeted and started the runners under ideal conditions for the race, being able to start the events from two different start points one on the upper road the other on the lower road was quite spectacular.
The Marathon involves, only! 5 laps of the course around Draycote Water whereas the traditional 35 mile event means another two laps making 7 in all. The course as usual followed the boundary road around the reservoir which offers many excellent views over the water and the local countryside, views that all those who completed the races were very familiar with when they finished.
A great day for Kenilworth Runners, Severn Trent Water but most of all for the runners with such ideal conditions
