2013 Kenilworth Runners Road Race Rankings

Established back in 2008, the Kenilworth Runners Road Race RankingsTM has undergone something of a transformation in 2013, with the rankings for each distance run on the road appearing for the first time and updated on a regular basis through the year rather than just at the end of it.

A brief explanation to explain the rankings:

With all the results now in, I’ve number crunched and sorted and much more to create ranking lists for all distances, excluding cross country and off-road races, and for this year, a far more comprehensive review of WMA Age Grades.

As some of the events have literally hundreds of entries, for this document and on the main page for each distance on the website, the fastest time for each runner is displayed. The website will have a separate table to show all performances over a distance by all runners (The tables you will be familiar with if you have been following them over the year).

5k parkrun results are included. Whilst the free weekly parkrun events are not strictly races, the courses are certified as accurate (or as near as damn it) and times are used by UK Athletics on their Power of 10 website. However, in keeping with UK Athletics, who this year differentiated 5k and parkrun as separate entities, from 2014 onwards I will also separate 5k events from parkrun (the reality being that the 5k list will likely be very small).

Since 2010, I’ve implemented a WMA / WAVA grading on each athlete's best performance at each distance to attempt to show an equivalency across the club's age ranges. For all distances I've used the WMA/WAVA age grading table as implemented at a web page created by Howard Grubb. The grades should be accurate for all races, but as I’ve not yet quite got this system automated, errors may well have occurred.

Unless I’ve made an error, race performances made by an athlete when running for another club or previously unattached will not be included here – the runner has to have been running in the green vest, metaphorically, or literally as would be the case most of the time. This affects those who have a second claim club (or who have Kenilworth Runners as their second claim club) and those who joined the club midway through the year and had already raced whilst unattached earlier in 2013.

As with previous years, there is an important caveat to remember with the compiling of the following lists. They are almost certainly not exhaustive or 100% correct as they are based solely on race reports that feature either on the club website or the athlete profile on the Power of 10 website (Which only features UK Athletics affiliated races, and I’ll confess I’ve not had chance to check for every runner this year). I am sure that there are a number of events that have slipped my attention. Finally, this year the rankings include results up to the end of the year i.e. the 31st December.

I hope you enjoy the 2013 Rankings and note that the opinions contained herein are my own and do not reflect those of the club and its committee.
