Membership Information
Introduction
Welcome to Kenilworth Runners! We are a friendly club, based at the Kenilworth Wardens, Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth. Runners of all abilities are catered for and we hope your membership will help you to achieve your running goals whatever they may be.
The Club website www.kenilworthrunners.co.uk is regularly updated and contains information concerning the club including race results, race reports, newsletters, committee minutes, forthcoming events and social events. The Club is run by a Committee, details of which can be found in the “contact us” page. Committee meeting minutes are uploaded monthly and should you which to raise any matter, please contact a Committee member. Each year (normally early December) an AGM will be held and all members are encouraged to attend. Amongst other things, the committee for next year will be elected.

Cross country and road races
Cross country is an important part of our race calendar and for the 2009/2010 season we have won promotion to Division 1 in the Birmingham League. Our goal is to stay in Division 1, which would be quite an achievement for a small club such as ours.
We also participate in the Gloucester Cross Country League as well as the Warwickshire Road Race Series.
Also, there is an annual Inter-Club race with Stratford AC and Spa Striders (competitive but friendly) followed by food and drink at a nearby inn.
Club race league
We also run our own club race league during the summer and winter. These are based on local routes up to 7 miles in distance. There are 8 races in each league with the best 5 only counting towards your score. It is based on a handicap system allowing anyone who participates a chance of winning. At the annual presentation evening, the overall winner of each league picks up a shield.
Events hosted
Each autumn, we host the Kenilworth Half Marathon attracting around 700 competitors, which was a new entry in the Runners World top 50 races in 2009. The proceeds from the race are split between the club and local charities. Those that have benefited in the past include, amongst others, Helen Ley House, Kenilworth PHAB, the Parochial Hall and Warwick Hospital Breast Scanner Appeal. All members are encouraged to either to help arranging the event or to marshal on the day.
We also arrange the Kenilworth Killer (formerly the Hilly Challenge) held in the spring at Abbey Fields, which is a smaller event with members helping out on the day.
Success at these events helps us to keep membership fees as low as possible.Club kit
Running vests, shorts and sweatshirts are available from the club kit officer (details available on the “contact us” web page). Please note that while members are encouraged to wear club colours for races they enter this is not mandatory, however the rules of cross country demand that club colours be worn in these races.
Training Times
Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings commencing at 7pm from the club. In the winter, training is around the streets of Kenilworth or in the Abbey Fields. In the summer, many of the club runs will be cross country using the many footpaths and rights of way available locally. At 8am on Sunday mornings, there is usually a group of runners going for a longer run from the club. It is recommended you make arrangements for this in advance with other members of the group you are running with.
After training on Thursday evenings some members stay behind to make use of the bar facilities and we hope you will be able to join in.
